Willow Smith Lands Her First Chanel Eyewear Campaign

Is there anything cooler than Willow Smith wearing a pair of Chanel sunglasses? Judging from the first ever Willow Smith x Chanel eyewear campaign for fall 2016, well, we have to say there isn’t!
Daughter of Will and sister to Jaden Smith (who is so far one of the most innovative fashion icons ever), Willow Smith has finally landed her first ever Chanel campaign, officially becoming one of Karl Lagerfeld’s most eclectic muses.
“A multifaceted artist, writer-composer-singer and actress, Willow Smith is the embodiment of her generation’s spirit. Her youth and energy charmed Karl Lagerfeld who has invited her to join the family of CHANEL muses… Swathed in jewels from the Fall-Winter 2016/17 Ready-to-Wear collection, she breathes new energy into the world of Chanel eyewear,” said the brand’s headquarters in a press release.
Lagerfeld formally invited Willow to join Chanel’s crew back in March, leaving many thrilled and enthusiastic about such a choice.
As for the Chanel fall 2016 eyewear campaign in and of itself, get ready for the perfect match between Chanel’s signature classic lines and Willow Smith’s edgy and fresh personality. Energetic and youthful, the campaign shows 15-year-old Smith (who besides being Chanel’s brand ambassador is a singer) wearing a pair of oversized sunglasses and various different eyewear frames, paired with a wide belt worn as a chocker and dark, matte lipstick.
The campaign features two short videos as well, in which Willow dances rhythmically showing off both the Chanel AW 2016-17 eyewear proposals and her inspiring style and charismatic personality.
Shot in black & white by Karl Lagerfeld himself, whose creativity touches photography as well, Willow Smith is thus officially following in the footsteps of muses Lily-Rose Depp, Cara Delevingne and Kristen Stewart, who represent Chanel’s newest generation of brand ambassadors.
From her first ever ad campaign with Marc Jacobs to her debut at the Paris Fashion Week with Chanel’s fall 2016 runaway show, Willow is everywhere in the fashion industry nowadays and we can’t wait to see her in more Chanel ad campaigns in future. Her strong personality and willingness to always challenge herself can undeniably set a good example for many young teenage girls out there.
“Being a young African-American woman with dreads, it blows my mind that I’m a Chanel ambassador. I’m coming into a new part of my life that is completely unknown, and I’m jumping right in. All I can do from here is continue to shift paradigms and continue to push the envelope further and further,” she told Teen Vogue back in May. You go, girl!
